Aged Care Employee Day – 2024
North Eastern Community Hospital Celebrates Aged Care Employees on Aged Care Employee Day
7 August 2024 – Campbelltown, SA
In a heartfelt tribute to the dedicated individuals who provide care and support to Australia’s elderly, North Eastern Community Hospital marked Aged Care Employee Day with a special celebration. This year’s theme, “Thanks for Caring,” set the tone for a day of appreciation, as the hospital joined the nation in recognising the contributions of the 370,000-strong aged care workforce across Australia.
At our aged care facility, the occasion was celebrated with a delightful afternoon tea, during which over 20 staff members were recognised for their exceptional service to aged care. Campbelltown City Council Mayor, Jill Whittaker, honoured the event with her presence, personally handing out certificates to staff members.
Mayor Whittaker praised the efforts of the aged care employees noting her own journey and supporting the dedication to those supporting our aged care service in the local community. The CEO, Cara Miller also stated “The dedication and compassion shown by these individuals is essential to the well-being and quality of life of the elderly in our community. It is a privilege to acknowledge their hard work and commitment.”
The recognition of the workforce extended beyond the hospital walls, as leaders in aged care across the country highlighted the critical role played by those who work tirelessly to ensure that elderly Australians receive both the care and clinical expertise they need.
“We recognise the invaluable work that our aged care teams do,” said Sarah Dobrota, NECH Care & Quality Manager. “Their dedication, empathy, and professionalism ensure the highest quality of life for those in our care. Today is about thanking them for caring—today and every day.”
Aged Care Employee Day, observed annually on 7 August, offers an important opportunity to shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes of the healthcare sector—those who provide essential care and support to elderly Australians. The staff of North Eastern Community Nursing Home embody this year’s theme, exemplifying the compassion and expertise that make such a difference in the lives of their residents.
As the day came to a close, staff members were able to reflect on their impact and celebrate their accomplishments. The afternoon tea served as a small but meaningful gesture of appreciation for the remarkable work they do, day in and day out.
The recognition of aged care employees is especially poignant as the sector faces increasing challenges, and events like these serve as a reminder of the dedication and commitment that underpins quality aged care in Australia. Our CEO also provided support for our teams in the video message recognised on ACCPA website. | |
