Celebrating our Maintenance Team

Highlighting the importance of those teams that keep the lights on.

19 January 2026– Campbelltown, SA

We celebrated Maintenance Day on the 18 January which highlights the importance of those teams that keep the lights on.

This day is the reminder of those who dedicate their roles to the systematic upkeep of our buildings, our equipment, our amenities. It is the epitome of safety as they manage servicing and regular maintenance of our systems and machinery. It is these teams that ensure that we preserve the investment of our physical assets that underpin patient safety reducing our risks on a daily basis.

So what do they do? Well that is a long answer – they are magicians, problem solvers, the mechanics, they are the unsung heroes. They are the team you call for the leak, the break, the failure. They are also there for the abnormal readings, the regulators of temperature and time. Most people have never seen the work-horse in the back corners of a hospital. In ours, it is called the Plant Room. The equipment is phenomenal. This equipment provides filtered water systems through to our heating and cooling.

They have a workshop that every dad (and plenty of mums) would be envy of, but these are tools of the trade, the tools to solve the problems. Their workshop is the tidiest I have ever seen as well! But what else would you expect with a team that keeps a hospital and aged care facility running.

But it doesn’t stop there – there are the gardens, the plants, the security, the electric doors through to archaic lifts (soon to be replaced) that ensures our patients and staff can move through our site safely and freely.

Our maintenance team are the unicorns of the team – and we take this opportunity to put the spotlight on your amazing work and craftmanship.
