# North Eastern Community Hospital (NECH)

> North Eastern Community Hospital is a not-for-profit, community-owned
> hospital and residential aged care facility in Campbelltown, South
> Australia. Founded in 1973, NECH provides acute care hospital services
> and high-level residential aged care, with no government funding for
> the hospital.

## Hospital
NECH is a not-for-profit community hospital offering day surgery and
specialist-led acute care across general surgery, gastroenterology,
orthopaedics, gynaecology, ophthalmology and plastic surgery. Admission
is arranged through a visiting specialist (VMO); patients are referred
by their GP and admitted under a specialist's direction rather than
presenting directly. Pathology, radiology and ophthalmology services
are provided in partnership with Clinpath, Benson Radiology and
Specialist Eye.

## Aged Care
North Eastern Community Aged Care's primary service is permanent,
high-level residential care for up to 84 residents, including a
dedicated Memory Support Unit for dementia care. Respite care is also
offered, subject to bed availability. Access requires an Aged Care
Assessment Team (ACAT) assessment via My Aged Care.
