Staff Wellness Week Celebrations 2025

North Eastern Community Hospital (NECH) proudly marked Staff Wellness Week with a week-long celebration dedicated to recognising the importance of staff wellbeing, connection, and self-care.

Campbelltown, SA - 12 September 2025

Held from Monday the 8th September to Friday the 12th September, this year’s Staff Wellness Week expanded from a single day into a full week of activities, giving staff multiple opportunities to pause, recharge, and feel appreciated for the work they do every day.

The week kicked off on Monday with free coffee, offering a warm start and a small moment of indulgence to begin the week. Tim Tam Tuesday followed, bringing a sweet treat and plenty of smiles, while Wednesday’s Spud Lunch provided a shared meal for staff to enjoy kindly provided by our catering team with the managers at the helm for the busy preparation for fulfilling the staff orders.

Mental health and meaningful conversation were at the heart of Thursday’s R U OK? Day, encouraging staff to check in with one another and reinforcing the importance of asking, listening, and supporting colleagues who may be doing it tough.

In recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day on 10th September, where staff were also invited to take part in the Out of the Shadows Walk, a national 9-kilometre challenge held in honour of the nine Australians who lose their lives to suicide every day. As part of Staff Wellness Week, NECH encouraged staff to participate in the walk at a time and place that suited them—whether individually or alongside colleagues, friends, or family—supporting a cause that touches many lives while promoting personal health and wellbeing.

The week concluded on Friday with a staff raffle, adding an element of fun and excitement to close out the celebrations. This raffle was only possible due to the generosity of our suppliers and local businesses who contributed gifts and services as raffle prizes.

Adding an extra layer of care, free massage sessions were available on Wednesday and Friday, allowing staff to take time out of their busy schedules to relax, unwind, and focus on their physical wellbeing.

Staff Wellness Week is an important initiative that reflects NECH’s ongoing commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of its workforce. The week acknowledged that caring for others begins with caring for ourselves—and that strong, supported teams are essential to delivering high-quality care to our community.

Throughout the week, staff were able to connect with colleagues across departments, enjoy simple moments of appreciation, and reflect on the value of balance, wellbeing, and teamwork.

At NECH, Staff Wellness Week 2025 serves as a meaningful reminder that our people matter. The week’s activities were a small but heartfelt way of saying thank you to the dedicated staff who continue to show up with professionalism, compassion, and care—every single day.
