Preparing for Admission
We look forward to welcoming you to NECH for your upcoming hospital admission. The checklist below is provided to help you prepare for your stay.
| Complete your Pre-Admission Form at least two weeks before arrival, or as soon as possible | You can complete your pre-admission form online or contact our Reception team on 08 8366 8111 for assistance. |
| Check your private health insurance status | Get in touch with your private health insurer to understand your cover, including any potential out-of-pocket expenses. |
| Talk with your doctor | Have a detailed discussion with your doctor about your planned procedure, expected outcomes, associated risks and post-operative recovery expectations. |
| Rehabilitation and discharge planning | Ask about any potential rehabilitation or discharge planning requirements after your procedure. |
| Fasting and medications | Make sure you have clear instructions from your doctor regarding fasting and any necessary medication adjustments before surgery. Typically, you should not eat or drink for six (6) hours before your procedure is scheduled, unless otherwise advised by your doctor. |
| Read our admissions information | Read through the admissions information provided to you. |
| Day of admission | Please shower before you arrive. Report at the time advised to the hospital Admission Desk which is located on the Ground floor. |

Online admission
Completing your Pre-Admission form online is easy – no paperwork is required.
| Before you begin | Have the following information ready: • Medicare number • Private Health insurance details (if relevant) • Self Insured Patients – please speak to our finance team regarding the indicative costs of your procedure • Ambulance number (if applicable) • DVA details (if applicable) |
| Register for the online form | Click here or select Pre-Admission Form from the top of this website Enter your name, address and phone number Provide an email address and choose a password (write your password down somewhere safe) You will be automatically directed to the online admission form. |
| Complete the form 5-15 minutes | This should take between 5 to 15 minutes, depending on your personal medical history. You can save the information and return to the form at any time. The form will cleverly skip the fields that are not relevant to your personal situation. Once complete, your information will be sent straight through to our friendly Admissions Team for processing. |
Our pre-admission service
NECH offers a complimentary pre-admission service to help patients prepare for your upcoming procedure. Run by an experienced nurse, we aim to answer any questions you have about your upcoming surgery, and review any specific requirements or concerns.
We recommended allowing approximately 30 minutes and we welcome you inviting a friend or family member to join. Topics that may be covered during pre admission include:
- Review of your online pre-admission form
- Information about pre and post-operative care
- Advice regarding your predetermined length of stay as indicated by your doctor
- An opportunity to discuss any aspect of your planned surgery
