North Eastern Community Hospital Hosts Employee Wellness Day to Celebrate Staff Contributions

Campbelltown, SA - 11 September 2024

In a spirit of appreciation and care, North Eastern Community Hospital (NECH) celebrated its annual Employee Wellness Day, a day dedicated to recognising the diversity and importance of each employee in delivering high-quality acute and aged care services. The event highlighted the hospital’s ongoing commitment to the well-being of its staff, acknowledging the vital role they play in both the healthcare system and the broader community.

This year’s Wellness Day, supported by BUPA Private Health Insurers, was filled with activities designed to promote relaxation, gratitude, and community spirit. One of the main attractions was the setup of four wellness stations, where employees were treated to personalised massages. These stations provided a much-needed opportunity for staff to unwind and focus on their personal well-being amid the demands of their day-to-day responsibilities.

The day’s festivities were enhanced by the efforts of NECH’s executive team, who donned aprons and cooked up over 200 baked potatoes—or “spuds”—for staff members. This gesture not only fed the employees but also served as a symbol of gratitude from the hospital’s leadership for the dedication and hard work demonstrated by all staff in their service to the community.

“This day is about recognising and celebrating our incredible team,” said CEO Cara Miller. “From acute care to aged care services, every employee plays a crucial role in providing compassionate, high-quality care. Our staff’s dedication ensures that our patients and residents receive the best possible support, and today, we take a moment to focus on their well-being.”

Community involvement played a significant role in the success of the day, with donations for a staff raffle provided by NECH’s generous sponsors. Major sponsors included Winc, Altaira, Romeo’s, ARC, Chicken 2 Go, Continental Taralli Biscuits, Coles, Eziway, BankSA and, all of whom contributed prizes to show their appreciation for the hospital’s staff. The raffle added an element of excitement to the day, with employees eagerly anticipating the announcement of winners and taking home prizes from some of the community’s most supportive local businesses.

NECH Employee Wellness Day served as a reminder of the importance of nurturing the health and happiness of those who care for others. By recognising the contributions of each team member and fostering a sense of community, the event reinforced NECH’s commitment to both staff and patient well-being. As the day came to an end, employees left feeling valued, relaxed, and energised, knowing their work is not only vital but also deeply appreciated.

In a sector that often prioritises the care of others, NECH’s Wellness Day stood out as an opportunity for healthcare workers to focus on their own well-being, leaving them better equipped to continue their essential work.
